Mission Statement

We believe swimming is a life sport that promotes a healthy lifestyle and a team experience. We support swimming as a no-cut sport that encompasses swimmers who are still becoming proficient to highly competitive athletes. Our mission is to raise enough funds to maintain high school swimming in the Salem-Keizer school district as an OSAA-sanctioned sport.

Background

The Salem-Keizer Swim Boosters (SKSB) organization was formed in 2011 after budget cuts eliminated most of the district funding for high school swimming.

The high school coaches worked with the school district to create a plan to keep swimming afloat. The plan was to create a parent-driven board to oversee an organization that would fund a district-wide swimming program. The organization, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, will raise most of the funds to maintain swimming in area high schools as an OSAA-sanctioned sport under the auspices of the Salem-Keizer School District.

The SKSB board consists of two parents per high school and its primary function is to raise the funds necessary to maintain swimming in the high schools.
